Q: What is Bunkhouse?
A: Bunkhouses provide the unique opportunity to allow large groups to get together in unique and stunning locations at an affordable cost and with exclusive hire. Traditional hotels and B&B’s charge £70 + per person per night on average whereas Nidderdale Bunkhouse costs from just £18 per person per night (based on a group of 20) and you get the exclusive hire of the building to yourself. To keep overhead costs low, you are provided with comfortable bunkbeds where you supply your own bedding and are required to leave the bunkhouse cleaned, tidy and in the same condition as you find it. By agreeing to our terms and conditions and tidy-up bond terms and completing them fully ensures we can continue to keep costs low for everyone.
Q: Bunkbeds remind me of school holidays!
A: Our bunkbeds all come with memory foam mattresses, and delux pillows. We have three bunks with double beds at the bottom and we also have two single beds to ensure all options are available.
Q: How many bedrooms are there?
A: We have 4 bedrooms as follows :-
- 1 with 4 bunkbeds (sleeping 8 total)
- 2 with 2 bunkbeds and a single bed (sleeping 5 total in each)
- 1 with 2 bunkbeds (sleeping 4 total)
Q: Is bedding provided?
A: We include a bedsheet and a pillow/pillowcase. You are required to bring your own sleeping bag/duvet.
Q: Do I have to pay up-front?
A: We ask for a deposit to secure your dates, and the balance to be paid 6 weeks before arrival.
Q: Do we allow weddings?
A: Nidderdale Bunkhouse is not ideally suited for larger groups than 20/30 people. If your planning a small, intimate ceremony/event then we would be happy to discuss your ideas with you.
Q: Can children come?
A: Of course, thats what bunkhouses are all about.
Q: Can we have our party here?
A: Nidderdale Bunkhouse is NOT a party venue. Company, summer parties etc are not accepted. Our building is perfectly set to enjoy a group get together where all members treat and respect the building as you would your own home.
Q: Do we accept stag/hen groups and younger party groups?
A: Our default position is that we do not accept party groups(as above), however we are the first people to acknowledge that every group is different. We are willing to discuss your plans, and sensible groups that will respect our property will be considered. Groups of exclusively under 25 yrs old will not be.
Q: What else do I have to bring?
A: Your bunkhouse is a self catering facility, with all the equipment you would expect in a normal household including the kitchen items etc. You need to bring your food, drink, bedding and some cleaning materials. A list of suggested items to bring is available here.
Q: What are my requirements/duties?
A: To ensure we can maintain the lower costs, you are required to leave the bunkhouse in the same clean and tidy condition as you found it. This means you will need to hoover/mop and clean and empty bins prior to leaving. A full list of these requirements are provided with your booking confirmation and can be found here.
Q: Is there parking?
A: We can accomodate a maximum of 8 cars ONLY. Additional parking is available in the layby on the road.
Q: Is heating included?
A: Your costs include central heating during the times when you are expected to be busy and active in the bunkhouse. These are 6.30am-10am and 4pm till 11.30pm. If you require heating on a full time basis then this is an optional extra and is offered mainly during the winter months.
Q: Is wifi included?
A: Yes, we have internet wireless access, but your in a stunning Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and you need to look up from your phone and see the world around you when here!
Q: Are there any other conditions I need to know about?
A: We are a relaxed bunch really. We simply ask that you remove shoes before going upstairs as we provide carpets in all bedrooms unlike most other bunkhouses because we think your worth it! Who wants cold lino under your toes in a morning?
Q: How many bathrooms?
A: Each bedroom has its own bathroom which includes a toilet, shower and 1 or two sinks
Q: Can we bring dogs/pets?
A: The bunkhouse sits in stunning open grazing land with cattle all around, and as such we regrettably cannot accept dogs.
Q: Are you disabled access friendly?
A: Being high on the valley side, unfortunately everything involves some set of stairs. Access to the bunkhouse from the car park is via a set of outdoor stairs, and all bedrooms and bathrooms are on the first floor. This means regrettably we are not suitable for those with wheelchairs or limited mobility.
NOTE: Your bunkouse booking gives exclusive access for your group to the bunkhouse. Management also live on-site and also a further holiday let cottage building sits behind the bunkhouse with its guests having private access.
More info on the holiday let can be found here
